Feel good story: Family makes good on dying family member's last ...

Like I said, there are many legitimate charities that would do a lot better things with $10,000, like providing medical supplies or clothes or helping stray pets or whatever. Giving a bunch of money to restaurant servers isn't exactly an overly noble thing.

Maybe people have read about how pennies on the dollar actually go to a good cause anymore. At least this way there is an actual person getting the money.

I love how quickly this went downhill. Good job Otters!

Pretty predictable. Still think it's a heartwarming story though.

Yeah, it would have been better if they just left the tip, didn't tell the waitress why, didn't film it, and didn't put it out there for people to watch.

Anonymous would be nice, but I certainly wouldn't trust leaving $500 cash on a table in a pizza joint would get to the right person. Anyone who walked by the table could have swiped it. Only way I'd do this is personally handing it to the server.

As for filming? Eh, could go either way for me. It's kinda cool to have a reaction video to spread the human spirit attached to the story, but ultimately unnecessary.

Since they did film, they get to continue to do it. Hopefully they won't film any more though.

I'm slightly suspicious to be honest. How come aaroncollins.org is not resolving to an actual web page anymore? I'm not convinced (maybe I'm too cynical) that this is real or just a money grab.

If it is real, it is a cool idea and I would fully support it. I would donate, but right now, with no further information (how much do they have, how often have they donated), I'm going to withhold.

Everyone in here is too cynical. Sure it's other people's money but it's still a cool idea. $500 is a lot of money for the vast majority of this country. As for the website, I'm sure it's getting hammered today, it made the front page of Yahoo.

The site says they are going to donate when they dine out once a week. Granted with the hefty amount of cash flow they could probably double that.
